Duties:

  • Work with the client for planning and scheduling for development and production.
  • Work with surveyors and technicians working on survey plans, ventilation studies, and QAQC.
  • Assist company engineers with ventilation, ground support, and backfill plans; communicate the plans with crews.
  • Work with the production and development cycles communicating issues and establish practical solutions to provide safer, faster, and better performance.
  • Work with Vulcan calculating overbreak and report on reasons for overbreak.
  • Learn, implement, and maintain drill patterns on drilling equipment (Sandvik TCAD and Atlas Copco Tunnel Manager).
  • Work with explosive vendors to achieve least practical cost for broken rock.
  • Assist management of crusher and backfill plant trouble shooting problems and managing subcontractor.
  • Assist surveyors when required and teach Vulcan
  • Travel as required for project assignments.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Degree in Mining, Civil, or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university or technical institute, or demonstrated equivalent experience.
  • Experience: 0-3 years experience, preferably with underground mining, infrastructure and/or shaft engineering.
  • Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities: The applicant must have strong problem solving and communication skills, the ability to work with minimal supervision, and be willing to work in the office and field. Candidates must have experience with relevant discipline engineering software. Strong organizational and time management skills are expected as well as a firm understanding of applicable Mining and Safety Acts, Regulations, and Codes.
