  • Under general supervision, design, specify, and evaluate mechanical equipment for large industrial mining and minerals related projects. Work closely with designers to progress and check mechanical and piping drawings to meet specifications. 
  • Coordinate mine/plant design with other engineering disciplines to ensure project alignment.
  • Assist in creation of project documents (equipment lists, design criteria, specifications, etc.).
  • Conduct and/or coordinate feasibility studies and test work for emerging process technologies.
  • Perform design calculations for equipment sizing and pump and piping designs.
  • Complete process flow diagrams and heat & material balances for simple plants and systems.
  • Champion positive change and the implementation of new ideas.


  • Skills are typically acquired through an undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering and minimum of 4-8 years experience preferably in mining, materials handling, pumping/piping, or mineral processing.
  • Applicant should be proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word.
  • Experience with the following programs is beneficial: Sidewinder, AutoCAD, Navisworks, Inventor, Solidworks, Soldiworks Simulate (FEA), AFT Fathom, Caesar II, CADWorx, MathCAD, Visio, Bluebeam, or any DEM software. 
  • Applicant should be able to read P&ID's, be knowledgeable of varied piping specs, applications and pipe support requirements.
  • Knowledge of piping and mechanical industry codes and standards is necessary (ASME B31.3, NFPA, ASME SectionVIII, .
  • Certification as a Licensed/Chartered Professional Engineer is preferred.
  • Domestic and International travel may be needed.  A valid passport is beneficial.
